Lucia Grisaffi is a young lyric soprano with a vibrant stage presence and a passion for education. She is a second-year undergraduate at Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. She is studying vocal performance in William Sharp’s studio, along with a double major in Music Education, expecting to graduate in 2028. For work-study, she holds an internship as an administrative assistant at the Peabody Preparatory School.
Growing up in Seattle, Lucia was encouraged by her parents to be involved in piano lessons and orchestra playing violin and viola. Later in her high school years, she became convinced to join choir and theater where she played her first roles as Maria from The Sound of Music, and Donna from Mammamia!. From there her love for performing grew, and she placed 1st in the State of Washington for the solo soprano category at the 2024 WMEA State Solo-Ensemble. At Peabody, she continues to have a wide variety of experiences planning and singing in recitals, performing, and collaborating with renowned coaches and singers.
Along with performing, Lucia helped her high school teachers as a TA and has experience with conducting both orchestras and choirs. She is enrolled in conducting and education courses as well as instrumental pedagogy classes to hone her skills as a music educator. Her future aspirations are to receive a master’s degree and to experience a wide range of professional experiences from performing to classroom teaching!
