
Clara Batzdorf is a young dramatic soprano, medical doctor, and scientist from Berlin. Her voice has been
called world class and destined for the big stage. She has an extraordinary range that spans nearly four
octaves with powerful brilliance and a strong core.
Dr. Batzdorf, born into a family of musicians, began her music career at the early age of four studying the
violin. She discovered her passion for the voice soon after in the children’s choir of the Staatsoper Unter den
Linden Berlin. During this period she participated in many productions on the grand stage, sang her first solo
parts, and worked with some of the most important conductors of our time including Daniel Barenboim and
Sir Simon Rattle. She won the first prize in the youth competition “Jugend Musiziert”.
As a young adult, Clara Batzdorf joined the youth chamber choir „Junges Consortium Berlin“ with whom
she traveled across Europe and won several international competitions. She began her professional vocal
education under the guidance of Kammersängerin Jutta Vulpius and Baritone Uwe Griem, himself a student
of Edita Gruberova and Montserrat Caballé. Dr. Batzdorf continued to hone her vocal abilities in
masterclasses with Edda Moser, Chris Merritt, and Juliane Banse, and is doing advanced studies with Donato
Di Stefano and Dorothea Röschmann.
She has demonstrated her vocal artistry across Europe, was awarded the gold prize by the Classical Music Artists Award, and was a semifinalist at the renowned premier opera foundation competition in New York. Her repertoire includes the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), Contessa Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte, Mozart), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, Mozart), Violetta (La Traviata, Verdi), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor, Donizetti), Elvira (I Puritani, Bellini), Micaëla (Carmen, Bizet), Mimi (La Bohème, Puccini), CioCio San (Madama Butterfly, Puccini), Agathe (Der Freischütz, Weber), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser, Wagner), Elsa (Lohengrin, Wagner), and Sieglinde (Die Walküre, Wagner).
Dr. Batzdorf is fluent in German, French, English, and Italian, studied medicine at the renowned Charité
Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and holds a PhD in neuroscience
