2026 Season

2026 will be an exciting year!

Our focus will center on three masterpieces of the operatic repertoire: Verdi’s Rigoletto, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. Each singer accepted into the program will be assigned a role in one of these operas. Throughout the intensive, participants will explore every facet of their assigned work—its music, style, and dramatic depth—while gaining hands-on experience in bringing a fully staged, orchestra-accompanied production to life.

All singers are expected to arrive at MOSF completely off book and prepared to perform. In addition, every participant will take part in the chorus of all three operas (cuts to be announced soon).

Don Pasquale is a sparkling comic opera about an old bachelor who tries to teach his lovestruck nephew a lesson—and ends up the butt of the joke. Determined to prove that marriage is easy and young people are foolish, Pasquale agrees to wed a demure young woman named Sofronia.

But Sofronia is really his nephew Ernesto’s clever sweetheart, Norina, disguised with the help of the mischievous Dr. Malatesta. The moment the fake marriage contract is signed, Norina transforms from shy bride to bossy diva—spending Pasquale’s money, redecorating his house, and making his life miserable.

When the ruse is revealed, Pasquale realizes he’s been duped, forgives everyone, and blesses the young lovers’ marriage—swearing off matrimony forever.

A fast-paced tale of love, disguise, and one old man’s comic comeuppance!

Rigoletto is a dark, dramatic opera about love, revenge, and a terrible twist of fate. The story follows Rigoletto, a sharp-tongued court jester who mocks everyone at the Duke of Mantua’s palace—especially the noblemen whose wives the Duke seduces.

When one of those nobles curses him, things spiral fast. Rigoletto’s only joy is his secret daughter Gilda, whom he keeps hidden from the corrupt world around them. But the charming, womanizing Duke disguises himself, woos Gilda, and wins her heart—then betrays her.

Burning for revenge, Rigoletto hires an assassin to kill the Duke. But in a cruel twist, Gilda sacrifices herself to save the man she loves. When Rigoletto opens the assassin’s sack expecting his enemy’s corpse, he finds his dying daughter instead.

A tragic tale of love, deception, and a father’s curse that comes heartbreakingly true.

The Marriage of Figaro is a whirlwind comedy of love, jealousy, and clever servants outsmarting their masters. It’s the wedding day of Figaro and Susanna, servants in the palace of the flirtatious Count Almaviva—who, inconveniently, has his eye on Susanna himself.

The Count’s schemes to seduce her collide with Figaro’s plots to expose him, the Countess’s heartbreak, and a cascade of disguises, secret notes, and mistaken identities. Even the teenage page Cherubino adds to the chaos with his hopeless crushes.

By nightfall, everyone’s been tricked, swapped, and surprised—but forgiveness wins out. The Count humbly asks his wife’s pardon, the lovers finally wed, and harmony (at least for now) is restored.

A sparkling comedy of love, wit, and comeuppance—Mozart’s perfect blend of laughter and heart.
